(24-02 National Assembly Future Agendas) Strategies for Sustainable Development of the Fisheries Industry in an Era of Climate Crisis

Climate change is profoundly affecting the marine environment, leading to ocean acidification, rising surface water temperatures, and changes in salinity—all of which can disrupt marine ecosystems. These environmental shifts have both direct and indirect impacts on the fisheries industry, resulting in significant socioeconomic consequences. Certain species and regions are becoming increasingly vulnerable due to environmental changes, and the industry's productivity is intricately linked with factors such as overfishing, seafood prices, and licensing systems. Comprehensive policy responses are required to address these complexities. This report analyzes domestic and international measures aimed at preventing and mitigating the adverse effects of climate change on the fisheries sector. It also reviews current adaptation technologies within the marine and fisheries industries, providing policy recommendations for system improvements, technological advancements, and future research.
