The National Assembly Futures Institute Celebrates its 5th Anniversary

On May 30, the National Assembly Futures Institute (President: Kim Hyeon Kon) celebrated its 5th anniversary at the 1st meeting room of the Member’s Office Building.
Speaker Kim Jin Pyo, in his words of encouragement, acknowledged the efforts of the National Assembly Futures Institute, saying that “it is playing a pivotal role in the national debates held by the National Assembly since this year.” He also expressed his expectation for the institute to “provide rich solutions to implement research outcomes into policies.”
In his commemorative speech, Park Myungkwang, Chairman of the board, mentioned that “despite relatively limited manpower and budget, the institute has produced meaningful and useful future research results.”
In his progress report, President Kim Hyeon Kon outlined plans for the future based on the achievements of the past five years. He emphasized strengthening collaboration in future research as part of the “One Team National Assembly,” engaging more in future dialogue with the public as the research institute of the National Assembly, and taking a leap forward to become a global think tank.
During a session highlighting the institute’s key research, Park Seong-won, a research fellow, shared insights into the research on “South Korea’s Future Outlook,” while Heo Jong-ho, Director of Data Center for QoL Studies of the National Assembly Futures Institute, presented key research outcomes from the “Happiness Survey of South Koreans.” As part of the celebration, exemplary awards were presented to research fellow Lee Sun-hwa and administrative staff Jung Ji-yoon.
In addition to Speaker Kim Jin Pyo, the 5th anniversary ceremony of the National Assembly Futures Institute was attended by Lee Kwang-jae, Secretary-General of the National Assembly, Lee Myung Woo, Chief Librarian of the National Assembly Library, Cho Euysup, Chief of National Assembly Budget Office, Park Jangho, Deputy Legislative Director of the National Assembly, Hong Hyun-sun, Deputy Secretary-General of the National Assembly, and Park Kyung-mee, chief of staff at the speaker’s office.
