NAFI to Conduct a Public Opinion Survey on the Future of the Korean Peninsula to Find South Koreans' Preferred Future Scenario of the Korean Peninsula among Scenarios Formulated for Different Types of Relationship between the Two Koreas

The National Assembly Futures Institute (President: Park Jin) conducts a “public opinion survey on the future of the Korean Peninsula” at the reception hall of the Seoul World Cup Stadium from 1 pm on Sunday, December 2, 2018. This survey aims at identifying which of six scenarios that are premised on the integration of the two Koreas South Korean citizens consider possible (possible future), preferable (preferred future), and undesirable (undesired future), and analyzes factors that cause differences in their choices.

The institute will analyze which of the scenarios are selected as possible futures, preferred future, and undesired future by the National Research Participation Group (250 people aged 16 years or older and living in the capital area) and the reasons for the choices, in order to present plans (based on 2030 and 2050 respectively) to reduce the likelihood of undesired futures happening and increase the possibility of realizing preferred futures to the public and the National Assembly.
