[Commissioned Research] Report on the Technical Advisory Service for "A Study for the Derivation of Environmental Variables Affecting the Future and Related Scenarios"

Research Manager: KISTI Future Technology Analysis Center (Park Jin-seo & Lee Jun-yeong)

The key to the future of Korea is "human."

- Future Issues of Korea Derived from Big Data Analysis -

The National Assembly Futures Institute (President: Park Jin) has secured research papers written over the last 10 years and SNS data for a year for the long-term future prediction research for 2050, which is the first research to be undertaken since its foundation, and performed a big data analysis for over 200,000 keywords (see attachment). For the analysis, the institute has signed a technical advisory contract (contract period: September 20-October 19, 2018) with the Korea Institute of Science and Information (KISTI), and technical advice has been provided on the research titled "A Study for the Derivation of Environmental Variables Affecting the Future and Related Scenarios."

According to the analysis results, the word with the highest frequency of appearance in relation to the future was "human," and it had a close relationship with keywords related to discrimination and social conflict as well as keywords related to mental health such as depression, suicide, stress, quality of life, and gender issues.

In addition, it was found that the appearance of keywords related to climate change, science and technology, North Korea, and international relations has recently increased. Based on the results, the research team has derived variables that affect the future and categorized them into 11 major areas. The National Assembly Futures Institute will present prospects for the future in 2050 and derive policy tasks through joint research with external researchers for each of the 11 areas that have been identified through this analysis. Based on this research, the institute is planning to establish national strategies for 2050.
