National Assembly Futures Institute (NAFI) Will Hold the 2nd National Assembly Futures Forum
Under the Theme of “Future School Education and Lifelong Learning: Prospects and Remedies” with YouTube Live Broadcast
2nd National Assembly Futures Forum will be hosted by the National Assembly Futures Institute (NAFI; DirectorPresident: Kim Hyeon-kGon) on August 31 under the theme of “Future School Education and Lifelong Learning: Prospects and Remedies” with live streaming on YouTube.
This academic event is designed to discuss ways to create a framework for school education and lifelong learning, which fosters future capability, in the paradigm shifts of society caused by aging population and various technical innovations including artificial intelligence (AI).
Kim Shin-iIl, a professor emeritus at Seoul National University (former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education) will give a presentation on the topic of “Future School Education and Lifelong Learning”, followed by a discussion with Kim Jin-Gyeong, Chairperson of the Presidential National Education Conference, as a moderator.
Panelists will be Jeong Il-Hwanhwan, President of the Korean Educational Research Association (KERA); Ryu Bang-Rran, President of the Korean Educational Development Institute (KEDI); Kang Dae-jJung, President of the National Institute for Lifelong Education (NILE); Ryu Jang-sSu, President of the Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education and Training (KRIVET); Park Hye-Jja, President of the Korea Education and Research Information Service (KERIS); and Song Hae-dDeok, Dean of Global Human Resources Development Graduate School, Chung-Ang University.
During the discussion session, they will exchange from various viewpoints prospects and opinions on curriculum and system, lifelong learning, vocational and career education, digital innovation, overseas reform cases, and future education policies, focusing on the following questions:
- What should be the purpose of education in the era of transition (COVID-19, AI and aging)?
- Is it possible to fundamentally innovate school education?
- Are school education and lifelong learning being conducted for the lives of individual citizens?
The National Assembly Futures Forum is initiated from this year by NAFI as a forum for discussion on major future issues, where members of the National Assembly, political parties, and organizations under the National Assembly, can exchange opinions and alternatives with each other. The forum will be live-streamed on YouTube without audiences considering COVID-19 pandemic, and can be viewed in real time on the NAFI YouTube channel.
