National Assembly Futures Institute holds its 2nd anniversary celebration
Speaker Moon Hee-Sang awards meritorious and appreciation plaques to those who have contributed to the establishment of the NAFI
National Assembly Futures Institute(President, Park Jin) will hold its 2nd anniversary celebration at the 2nd Meeting Room of the National Assembly Building at 10 am on May 26. The National Assembly Futures Institute(NAFI), a government-funded research institute under the direct supervision of the Speaker of the National Assembly, was established in May 25, 2018 with the aim of reinforcing the National Assembly's policy capabilities and contributing to national development by predicting and analyzing changes in the future environment and deriving mid-and long-term national development strategies under the 「National Assembly Futures Institute Act」.
This 2nd anniversary celebration will consist of opening ceremony in the first part and the achievement sharing session in the second part. At the opening ceremony, Speaker Moon Hee-sang will give words of encouragement, followed by awarding meritorious and appreciation plaques to those who have contributed to the establishment of the NAFI. Special meritorious plaques will be awarded to the Speaker of the second half of the 19th National Assembly Jung Eui-Hwa and the Speaker of the first half of the 19th National Assembly Jung Se-Kyun, and meritorious plaques will be awarded to the Chairman of the House Steering Committee for the 20th National Assembly Jung Woo-Taek, an executive member Park Hong-Geun, an executive member Kim Seon-Dong, an executive member Kwon Eun-Hee, the former Secretary-Generals of 19th National Assembly Park Hyung-Jun and Kim Kyo-Heung. In addition, the Speaker Moon Hee-Sang will award appreciation plaque to a head of the Preparatory Committee on the Establishment of NAFI Cho Dong-Sung (currently the President of Incheon National University) and other members who have contributed to the establishment of the NAFI after the enactment of the National Assembly Futures Institute Act.
The results and achievements of researches that have been carried out by the NAFI will be presented at the achievement sharing session in the second part. Under the theme of ‘Asking to the NAFI (suggestions),’ participants will also have time to freely discuss the tasks to be addressed and the direction in which the institute should proceed. In his closing remarks at the opening ceremony, President Park Jin will express his thoughts on the operation of the institution for last two years as the first president and ask the attendees for continuous interest and support for the NAFI. Under the National Assembly Futures Institute Act, the term of office for the first president is expired on May 29, the day when the 20th National Assembly is dissolved. <End>
