National Assembly Futures Institute hosts a discussion to celebrate its 1st anniversary on May 24
- discuss research performance of the NAFI, future predictions of 13 areas and reformation tasks -
National Assembly Futures Institute(President, Park Jin) will hold its 1st anniversary celebration at the 1st Meeting Room of the National Assembly Building at 3:00 pm on May 24, 2019(Fri.). The National Assembly Futures Institute(NAFI) was established in May 25, 2018 under the 'National Assembly Futures Institute Act' and KDI School Professor, Park Jin, who was appointed as the first President of the NAFI, is currently leading the NAFI.
The NAFI, a government-funded research institute under the direct supervision of the Speaker of the National Assembly, was established with the aim of reinforcing the National Assembly's policy capabilities and contributing to national development by predicting and analyzing changes in the future environment and deriving mid- to long-term national development strategies. The discussion to commemorate the 1st anniversary of foundation of the NAFI held on May 24th (Fri) will consist of an opening ceremony and a debate. At opening ceremony in the first part, there will be an opening remark by the president of the NAFI Park Jin and a welcome speech by Chairman of the board Kim Sun-Wook, followed by words of encouragement by the Speaker Moon Hee-Sang and congratulatory remarks by key figures. At the discussion session in second part, the research results, future research plans, future scenarios predicted by the NAFI in 13 areas and reform projects will be discussed under the theme of “Research Achievements and Future Tasks of the NAFI”.
In this year, the researchers of the NAFI will combine 13 areas to divide the nation's future into four categories and let the people choose the country they want. After which the researchers will propose a national long-term development strategy to achieve the country that the people want. After presenting the national long-term development strategy in 2020, the NAFI will establish and present the strategy every four years in line with the term of the National Assembly. (End)
