National Assembly Futures Institute holds its 1st International Academic Seminar (on September 3)

-  discuss Global Outlook to 2050 and Policies for a Better Future -


National Assembly Futures Institute (President Park Jin) will hold its 1st International Academic Seminar under the theme of  < Global Outlook to 2050 and Policies for a Better Future> at the 2nd Meeting Room of the National Assembly Building at 9:30 pm on September 3, 2019 (Tue.).  National Assembly Futures Institute was established in May 25, 2018 under the ‘National Assembly Futures Institute Act’. The NAFI aims to reinforce the National Assembly's policy capabilities and contribute to national development by predicting and analyzing changes in the future environment and deriving mid- to long-term national development strategies

The international academic seminar will consist of a ceremony, a keynote lecture in the morning and debates in the afternoon. At the morning ceremony, it is scheduled to give an opening speech by President Park Jin, a congratulatory remark by Speaker of the National Assembly Moon Hee-Sang, and a welcome remark by Chairman Kim Sun-Wook. In the keynote lecture, Vice President of KAIST Lee Kwang-Hyung will give a presentation on future of tools and ideas necessary for human survival, followed by a  presentation of Chairman of Future Generations Commissioner for Wales (at ministerial level) Sophie Howe on process of deriving future policies for the new generation as an example of the Welsh government. In the first session of the afternoon debate, it will discuss the future prospects forecasted in Europe, India, and Africa under the theme of “the Future of World in 2050”. In the second session, experts from the United States, Mexico and Japan will give a presentation on the topic of  “Efficient Future Forecasting by the National Assembly and the Government”. In each session, domestic future studies experts will moderate the debate.

The NAFI will actively pursue international research cooperation and networking with this international academic seminar. It plans to solve the problems facing the global community, including the development of science and technology, economic inequality, and climate change etc. with world's leading experts.
